Workshop stone carving in Carrara
The workshop is organized in Carrara, well known for its caves. Our bed & breakfast “Il Marlo” is located at 200 m from the sea and the beach, with on the background a scenery of mountains.
The workshop for as well novice as more experienced carvers will be attended by an experienced sculptor (8 participants max), on an individual base taking into account the participants own artistic input and possibilities.
Courses are held from Monday till Friday from 9 AM till 12 AM and from 2 PM till 6 PM.
For those who are interested, we plan to pay a visit to the caves (option)
The working space is located nearby our “bed and breakfast”. All participants get their own place sheltered from the sun and/or rain, a chopping-block, electricity, pulsed air and a piece of marble 30 x 30 x 30 cm or 40 x 20 x 20 cm.
Participants should bring their own tools (chisels, hammer, etc… There will be a possibility to buy the basic tools for a fair price. Angle grinders cannot be used by novice sculptors.
It is extremely important to work in the most secure conditions. Wearing appropriate work clothing is mandatory: dust mask, gloves, safety shoes and possibly earbuds.
The nice and modern rooms from “Il Marlo” are equipped with 2 separate beds, a bathroom with shower and toilet, an expresso coffee machine and a terrace. A few rooms have a smal kitchenette.
